This page is for the upcoming version's Changelog. These changes are sometimes reflected on this wiki via the above "Future" template. In the event that there is a change or fix that we consider to be a spoiler, or want to keep hidden until the patch is released, the relevant note will be omitted.

Pseudo-Core 2.9

• Generation 8 content:
  • Implemented Pokémon up to Enamorus.
    • Not all of them are completely implemented and some art assets may be missing.
• Custom Sardonyx content:
  • New Regional Variants are available! Good luck finding them all.
  • Added two new passwords.
    • One hint can be found naturally through exploring. The other requires backtracking after the 2.x demo concludes.
• Bugfixes:
  • Crash fixes:
    • Fixed the follower attempting to give the player certain items crashing the game.
  • Graphical fixes:
    • There have been several small organizational changes having to do with sprites.
    • Radiant Jolteon's sprites are now in the correct folders and should appear now.
    • Fixed Tenpo using Kaden's VS sprite.
    • The Metallic animation now correctly plays on wild encounters.
  • Text fixes:
    • Several story-relevant bits of dialogue have been minorly tweaked. The observant may notice that this gives insight and context into how certain characters behave.
      • At the suggestion of his original creator, Abel now says "Hrm." instead of "Hnn..."
      • Acento now says "... Well, at some point..." instead of "... Sorta..." when talking about how he's going to challenge Dynamo, because "sorta" really doesn't make sense there.
      • The waiter at Café Calico now meows when taking your order.
      • The choice to agree with Rhodie in East Citrivale Gate has been slightly rewritten to make it more clear which choice is which.
    • The font check message now attempts to guide players on fixing that bug themselves.
    • The Pokédex no longer implies Helioptile lives in food.
    • There have been several typos fixed, including nameplates now correctly appearing and text being colored correctly.
      • This is most notable with important NPCs with special dialogue colors, which have now been updated.
  • Move and Ability fixes:
    • Curse now works for Ghost-types.
    • Intoxicate now works.
    • Precise now only works for the intended moves.
    • Sadism has a function now.
    • Swapped Altaran Kingler's Abilities, which were in the wrong order.
    • Mimikyu's form resets at the end of battle if Disguise was activated
  • Mechanical fixes:
    • Azurill can no longer change genders on evolution because minors shouldn't transition.
      • The main games did this in like gen 6. Why didn't Essentials? --Kuda
    • Post-battle evolutions can now be cancelled again.
    • Blitzle evolves correctly now.
      • For reference, Blitzle is the only Pokémon that can naturally evolve into either of Zebstrika's variants within Altaris. It evolves into Unovan Zebstrika upon level up, and requires Dragon Scale or Prism Scale for Altaran Zebstrika.
  • Other fixes:
    • Fixes some collision issues.
• Exploit and balance fixes:
  • Hard Mode:
    • Healing machines that actually work in Hard Mode now cost a flat 500 Poké to use.
    • The woman in the cabin on Route 4 East will no longer heal the player after Sidequest: The Landlady.
  • Altaran Charmander line:
    • Divine Right has been replaced by Corrosive Breath in the level-up moveset since it was intended to be an Egg Move.
      • Altaran Charizard still learns it, but at a much later level.
    • Having any member of the evolution line in the party now triggers the Anti-Cheat.
      • If you still have Spectre from the 2.0 release Mystery Gift, too bad. We told you multiple times to make a new save.
  • Obedience and level-up system:
    • The shop in Ironis Black Market no longer stocks Rare Candies.
    • Rare Candies no longer level Pokémon past the current cap.
    • Pokémon are now disobedient 80% of the time when past the cap.
    • Raised the price of the Affogato again.
    • The Affogato now only reduces a Pokémon to level 2 if they were obtained at level 1.
  • Moves and Abilities:
    • Burnout has been changed.
      • The name of the Ability has been changed to Firestarter.
      • It should actually work now.
      • It no longer activates on status moves.
      • It no longer activates if the user's stats have already changed that turn.
      • Pokémon under the effects of Firestarter are now affected by Lash Out's increased damage.
    • Seduce can now Infatuate the target regardless of its gender.
    • Bellow is now a Dragon-type Fake Out variant, with its Base Power and PP adjusted accordingly.
    • Razor Wind is now a Flying-type move.
    • Vaporeon's Abilities have been swapped around. Normal Abilities are now Water Absorb and Restors, Hidden Abilities are Hydration and Drizzle, and the Mega Ability is Swift Swim.
  • Trainer loadouts:
    • Noro's Nidoran:
      • ... is now saved to one variable on new save files.
      • ... will now copy the original Nidoran's IVs.
      • ... will now be the level of the original Nidoran if it was higher than Noro's current loadout.
    • Crash now has his Rocky Helmet again.
    • Neko Guy Nyat's Meowth now has Technician.
    • The Pokémon in the Thorne Residence have been bumped to level 50.
  • The prices of Berries have gone up again.
  • Some gift and reward Pokémon, such as the Altaran Ralts from Sidequest: The Landlady and the starter received from Tenpo, are now marked as Special and can no longer be sold to Suppliers.
• Graphics:
  • Alternate Color Pokémon:
    • Rebranded "Shiny Metallic" Pokémon into "Radiant" Pokémon.
      • Gave new Radiants to a lot of Pokémon.
        • It's too many to list, and it keeps changing. Trust me. --Kuda
    • Gave new Metallics to every Pokémon.
      • • All Pokémon up to the Treecko line, and several after that point, use a custom palette more true to the term "Metallic".
        • Every other Pokémon uses a filter as a placeholder.
      • With this, we've started making overworlds and icons which use the correct colors for Metallic and Radiant Pokémon.
        • Currently up to Beedrill, with a few scattered ones later on.
        • Some Shiny icons and overworlds may be incorrectly colored. It's a lot of sprites to go through and will be corrected in due time.
    • The following lines have new Shiny colors:

      • Vibrava (slight adjustment to Flygon, no change to Trapinch)

    • Ash Cloak and Cloakless Wormadam now have their own stat spreads.
    • Altaran Arcanine's BST has been docked to match Kantonian's.
    • Girafarig and Stantler have gotten another BST boost for an even 500.
    • Skarmory has had its BST increased to 500.
    • Flygon is now statted as a pseudolegendary, making its BST 600.
    • Rapidash has had its Special Attack increased to 100.
    • Altaran Sentret has had HP increased by 10 and Defense and Speed increased by 5.
    • Altaran Furret has had all stats except for Attack increased by 10.

      • Altaran Charmander and Aron now have encounter data set for 3.0.
      • There will now be a special message at the start of single wild encounters where the wild Pokémon has at least two perfect IVs.
    • New encounters:
      • Fletchling can now be found in Route 1's normal grass.
      • Shroomish, Stantler, and Altaran Paras can now be found in Jadit Ruins (Exterior).
      • Trubbish can now be found in Rubina's two Condemned Buildings.
      • Carvanha can now be fished from saltwater sources in Ironis City.
    • Replaced encounters:
      • Teddiursa has been removed from Peridot Forest, to be replaced by Joltik.
      • Zigzagoon has been removed from Route 4, to be replaced by Skwovet (West only).
      • Skorupi has been removed from Route 6, to be replaced by Altaran Linoone.
    • Evolved encounters:
      • Pidgey on Route 5 have evolved.
      • Shinx on Route 4 (Center) have evolved.
      • Zigzagoon on Route 5 have evolved.
    • Removed encounters:
      • Rattata has been removed from all wild locations EXCEPT for Granite Town, Route 1, and the Condemned Buildings, the last of which has decreased its encounter rate.
      • Meowth has been removed from Route 2.
      • Krabby has been removed from Ironis Tunnel.
      • Tangela has been removed from Routes 5 and 6.
      • Magikarp has been removed from all saltwater sources, and its spawn rate has been lowered in freshwater.
      • Murkrow has been removed from Peridot Forest.
      • Roselia has been removed from the beach's grass in Ironis City, but can still be found in normal grass.
      • Bidoof has been removed from Route 4.
      • Glameow has been removed from Rubina and Citrivale Cities.
    • Tree hole spawns:
      • Joltik has been placed in the Peridot Forest tree hole.
      • Munchlax has been placed in the Route 4 (Center) tree hole.
    • Egg spawns:
      • Murkrow's Egg slot in Peridot Forest has been replaced by Stantler.
• Maps and events:
  • New scenes and sequences:
    • When going to Tempest Island, you are now first taken onboard the ship instead of going directly to the island.
    • Added a new optional event if the player has enough "bad morality" points.
      • It will require backtracking.
      • The exact point threshold is >10. This is technically possible in 2.x, but requires selecting every choice that gives a "bad morality" point that is not exclusive with a choice that gives a point for a different counter.
  • Moved some warps around.
  • Televisions throughout the region now have more Altaris-relevant text, and special interactions at certain times of year.
  • Story and quests:
    • Kaiser will now be at the PC in Citrivale once the story events are over, and will go sit down when you speak with him. He will still leave upon entering the gate to Route 5.
    • Acento has finally remembered the name of one of his traveling companions.
    • A new quest can be started, but not completed, after rescuing Calico.
    • A new quest can be obtained in Rubina City.
    • Tweaked some dialogue in Sidequest: The Landlady for PG Mode.
    • Added a new line of dialogue to the first scene with Mary/Jordan to explain why they aren't taking Cherish and L as their starter Pokémon.
  • Remaps:
    • Lots of small tweaks across the region, like moving a couple of tiles or adding a tree.
      • Most of these are too small to notice, but if you want to avoid the slim chance of being stuck upon updating, save in front of a Pokémon Center before applying the patch.
    • The names of maps that had floor numbers listed have had them removed.
    • Rubina Gym has been completely remapped.
    • Rubina's Condemned Buildings have also been completely remapped. Events may respawn on saves from before the change.
    • Citrivale Plaza has new masonry.
  • Items:
    • Added a bunch of berry bushes to various areas, most notably Amaris City.
    • Added items here and there.
  • NPCs:
    • Added or changed several minor NPCs across the region.
      • Many of these are in Ironis Black Market, some of which only trigger after escaping Team Mortis.
        • The Haxorus on the battlefield is now an Altaran Krookodile.
    • Dusty no longer belongs to the woman in Amaris; she's now dogsitting him for her cousin.
    • Added some birds.
    • Added a reference somewhere.
    • Changed a reference elsewhere.
    • The player can now attempt to pet Renegade.
  • Tiles:
    • Replaced most freshwater autotiles.
    • Fixed some misaligned tiles in Citrivale City.
• Mechanics:
  • EVO:
    • EVO Day has a few more Fun Fact lines.
    • Both EVOs now pick from a list of doalogue lines when activated.
    • EVO Night now has a breathing animation when sleeping before the player interacts with it.
    • Removed unecessary linebreaks from EVO Day's text.
  • Death:
    • Pokémon marked as Special now avoid their first death in a Deathmatch, instead fainting as normal.
      • This can only happen once per Pokémon.
      • You will not be spared a Game Over if this occurs and your team consists of only dead and fainted Pokémon.
  • Fishing now has a 100% bite rate, but the player must react within five seconds to reel in the Pokémon.
  • Shops and move tutors which take Credits now operate on modified Poké Mart scripts.
• Audio:
  • Sound effects:
    • All sound effects, including Pokémon cries, are being volume balanced to fall in line with the rest of the game's audio.
