Emeralis City is the third city the player reaches, following Route 2. It is the destination and primary location of multiple quests, most notably Sidequest: Show Me a Spinarak and Story: School Brawl.
Emeralis City is considered to be a relatively small city, with an easy flow through it from one route to another. It is surrounded by trees and has a large grassy park; it is one of the less-urbanized cities in its general area.

Emeralis City is home to the Emeralis Trainer School, a large circular park with tall grass, and the Thorne residence. The significance of the lattermost is unrevealed at this time.
