Mechanics
A Wild Pokémon Egg can be visibly seen in the overworld. If interacted with it when the player has room in their party, they can attempt to take it. If they do so, one of three things can happen:
- The player is forced to have a battle with a wild Pokémon, presumably a parent Pokémon. The player must defeat the Pokémon they encounter in order to take the Egg. Attempts to capture the Pokémon will fail and use up the Poké Ball thrown. If the player chooses to run from the battle, the Pokémon will take the egg and run away. If the egg is taken by either the player or the Pokémon, it will respawn after a week. However, if the player blacks out as a result of the battle, they can go back to the egg for another attempt.
- The player is forced to have a battle with a wild Pokémon attempting to steal the Egg.
- The player adds the egg to their party without incident. The egg will then respawn after a week.
The Pokémon Egg the player can get is determined randomly, with possible outcomes determined by the location the Egg is found in. The Egg determines the parent Pokémon that can attack player, if any at all. The Pokémon that attempts to steal the Egg, if any at all, is determined by the Egg's location. The level of the parent or thief Pokémon (if either is generated) scales based on progress, with the Pokémon potentially being evolved at certain thresholds.
Pokémon that hatch from these eggs are guaranteed to have their Hidden Abilities, and a random egg move as long as those species have egg moves.
