Deathmatch

A Deathmatch is a type of Pokémon battle introduced in Pokémon Sardonyx: Raised to Win. A Deathmatch involves two Trainers battling each other, both using a single Pokémon. It is the primary form of battling within Altaris' Circuit. As a result, the only people that are known to challenge the player to Deathmatches are Circuit Trainers and members of Team Mortis. As the name suggests, a Deathmatch is a battle to the death. It is for this very reason that Deathmatches are illegal.

Mechanics

In most Deathmatches, the player is only allowed to use one Pokémon to battle their opponent with. The Pokémon used for the battle is chosen by the player prior to the start of the battle.

The player is not allowed to use items from their bag during Deathmatches. They are only allowed the item their Pokémon is holding.

If the player's Pokémon faints in a Deathmatch, they are marked as dead.

If losing a Deathmatch results in the player having a full team of unusable Pokémon (counting dead Pokémon and Pokémon eggs), they will receive a proper game over and be forced to restart from the last place they saved.

Dead Pokémon

Dead Pokémon can no longer be healed at a Pokémon Center. In addition, healing and reviving items will no longer have an effect on them. Dead Pokémon are also not able to be healed in the PC. Dead Pokémon cannot be sold to Suppliers.

As of the current release of Pokémon Sardonyx: Raised to Win, there are no known methods of properly reviving dead Pokémon. However, if a dead Altaran Paras is found in the player's party after a battle, it will evolve into Parasect regardless of level and be revived (unless the evolution is cancelled).
