Contents
Appearance
Rhodie is fair skinned, and has red hair and red eyes. He wears a green bandana with a white Poké Ball symbol on his head, a dark red shirt, a black sleeveless jacket, green pants, red wristbands, and red sneakers.
Personality
Rhodie is shown to be a somewhat arrogant, showing little respect trainers he views as not on his level of skill. While he does show some respect toward the player, he's quick to remind them of his skills compared to theirs. Though to his credit, he is typically able to back up his claims.
Despite being from Ironis himself, he is shown to hate everyone else in the city, his parents included.
In the Game
Rhodie arrives at Professor Spruce's lab before Jordan and Mary to receive his starter Pokémon. Despite exhibiting his impatience toward waiting for the Professor to wake up, he allows the player to select their Pokémon first. Upon receiving his PokéBit from Professor Spruce, he's the first to comment on its features, particularly questioning the indent on it.
Rhodie can be encountered again in Route 1 while the player is hunting for Kaden's Pichu. He berates the player's friend for having lost their Pokémon after having just received it, and comments that he's too busy with his own hunt to help. Presumably at this point, he's hunting for the Starly (or Fletchling on Hard Mode) he later fights the player with.
After the player defeats Kaden and gets back their friend's Pokémon, Rhodie approaches the two of them. After commenting on their search and bragging about his newly caught Pokémon, he recognizes the player's potential as a trainer.
Rhodie is found once again in Emeralis City. He talks down the player's friend once again before inviting the two of them to join a tournament being held at the Trainer School.
During the tournament, he defeats his first-round opponent Helena. Provided the player wins their first match, Rhodie will approach the player and their friend between matches. While acknowledging the fact that they made it to the next round, he tells Mary/Jordan that they have no chance to win their next match, then tells the player to win theirs. Sure enough, he defeats Mary/Jordan and makes it to the finals. Should the player also make it to the finals, they have their first opportunity to battle Rhodie. Depending on how they perform in this battle, his comment to the player as he leaves after the awards ceremony will vary He will either acknowledge the player's victory while assuring they won't be so lucky the next time or comment on the player placing second. However, should the player lose in the first or second rounds, Rhodie will win the tournament and berate the player for their early elimination.
Rhodie is not seen again until the player enters Citrivale City. Rhodie can then be seen at the east gate battling a group of Trainers. If spoken to, he tells the player to leave. Naturally, this blocks progress to Route 5. He disappears from this spot when the player returns from The Tempest.
Upon entering the gate to Route 5, the player finds Mary/Jordan having been defeated by Rhodie. He reaffirms his superiority over them, and upon noticing the player, asks them if they agree that they're not strong enough to fight him. Regardless of their answer, Rhodie challenges them to a battle, then leaves to wait for them in Route 5.
Following the battle in Route 5, Rhodie is seen once again in Ophrys's home. Talking to him there reveals that he's waiting for a Poké Ball being made for him. While waiting for Ophrys to finish, he listens to Acento's story. But upon receiving his Heavy Ball from Ophrys, he leaves. At this point, if the player chose Mienfoo, his Solosis will have evolved into Duosion.
He's found again in his home in Ironis. He displays his hatred for the city and the people who live in it. He also makes a remark that the player is free to buy his house if they have the money for it. Whether or not he's being serious about the offer is unknown. He appears once again at the pier after Petra disappears.
Pokémon
Rhodie catches his starter Pokémon after the player, choosing the Pokémon whose type is strong against the player's. He does not show any preference to a particular type to train.

Trivia
- Rhodie's name is derived from the Rhododendron flower.
- Considering the fact that Fletchling is not normally obtainable in the areas leading up to Emeralis City, it is unknown where he obtained it in Hard Mode.
