Sidequest: Absent Teacher is one of the sidequests of the game. It is a relatively short quest, and is available as soon as the player is able to fully access Emeralis City.
Completing the Sidequest
This sidequest is obtained from Pokémon Ranger Samuel on the first floor of the Trainer School in Emeralis City.
This quest can be completed very easily, first talk to the boy facing the bookshelves in the upstairs empty classroom. He will mention that he saw the teacher outside. Going outside, the teacher is in the woman's flower garden behind the Pokémon Center. She will mention how to arrange flowers with the woman feeling annoyed. Talking to the teacher will result in her asking the player if they are enjoying the woman's garden.
Answering yes will have her mention that they are lovely.
Answering no will have her ask why they are in the garden. She is then reminded that she has to be in class and hurries off.
Return to the empty classroom to find the teacher and Samuel there. Samuel will give the player a silk scarf as thanks for finding her. This will end the quest.
